Driving green message home
Class V to IX students of Vagdevi Vilas School, Varthur, held a rally recently to mark World Environment Day.The children took to the streets to caution the people of the alarming effects of using plastic bags, wastage of water and the various types of pollutants.
Varthur main road and the adjoining residential alleys of Varthur reverberated with slogans such as ‘Earth Day is Everyday, save leaves: Save Lives:
Think Green: Live Green and so on. Theenthusiastic children made paper bags and distributed them among shop-keepers and residents of Varthur area and urged them to discard polythene bags to save future generations.
Teaching Aid Exhibition
All the subject teachers of Std I – IV exhibited a wide range of teaching aids on 26th June at the Varthur campus. The exhibition portrayed the creativity and skill of the teachers who tried their best to make the contents of their teaching interesting and easy through the use of various teaching aids. The exhibition was a great success. Five teachers bagged the prizes for their presentations.
Investiture Ceremony
Vagdevi Vilas School, varthur, announced the names of their new office-bearers for the year 2009-’10 at their investiture ceremony. Principal Jayanthi Raghu reminded the leaders of their responsibilities towards the school and society.
Chairman of the Vagdevi Vilas Institution K Harish urged students to remember their duties towards their parents and keep themselves updated about the latest developments across the globe.
Rahul and Raksha took oath as Head Boy and Head Girl respectively. The programme concluded with ‘Shanti mantra’ according to the custom of the institution.
Celebration of Grand Parents’ Day
The celebration of grand parents’ day is a unique idea of Vagdevi family, with the main purpose of highlighting the role of grandparents in bringing up the children.This year too, it was celebrated with its usual pomp on 1st August when the grand parents of the preprimary section were invited to enjoy the day with their grand children and the teachers.
The Children presented a vibrant programme for their grandparents in the first half and in the later half the grand parents enjoyed themselves by playing various games, dancing and sharing their ideas. Rajalakshmi Jayaraman of ‘CETC’ and Usha Bettagiri of ‘Aruna Chetana’ graced the occasion as Chief guests who discussed the present day social problems with the grandparents to get their views in solving the problems.
Kala Mandira Inauguration
Kala Mandira classes started at Varthur campus from August. It was inaugurated on 3rd August in the school campus with the worshipping of Goddess Saraswathi and chanting of shlokas by students. Smt. Saraswathi Raj spoke to the children about the various events that will be taught in these classes.
Independence Day Celebration
Vagdevi Vilas School, Varthur celebrated the Independence Day. The teachers promptly made the last minute changes to cope with the heavy shower of the previous night. The National Flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest Shri. Eshwar a great.Industrialist. He inspired the children with his speech. The students gave speeches in different languages. The students also presented a marvelous yoga and a karate show. The programme ended with our National Song.
