World Environment Day Celebrations

Vagdevi Vilas School, Marathahalli celebrated “World Environment Day” on 18.06.16 in its true spirit by championing the cause “Fight against illegal trade” of wild life with the tag line go wild for life to raise common consciousness on illegal poaching and the related environmental hazards.

Chairman Sri.K.Harish in his inaugural address to the students in the assembly reminded the children about the necessity of having a sustainable and balanced environment and urged them to ‘live and let live’.

The day witnessed proud moments when Dhanushree and  Lavanya Hemanth from grade 12 got felicitated for representing India in INESPO, at Netherlands and bagging the bronze medal amongst the 49 participant countries.Students from grade 8 were also felicitated for winning prize in open quiz category held at Vishweshwaraiah Institute of Technology.

The highlight of the day was the environment rally conducted by the children from grade 9 to 12 in Gunjur in the presence of local governing body officials.

The event culminated with the street play “Go wild for life” enacted by the students of Std XI & XII which drew applause from the crowd.

To mark the occasion many saplings and paper bags manufactured by the students were distributed to the gathering.
