Vagdevi Vilas School celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2025 with great zeal and enthusiasm.
The event began with a special assembly to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga and encourage students to incorporate it not just as a physical exercise, but as a path to inner stillness and balance.
The school ground transformed into a serene space, where students and teachers gathered in harmony, dressed in white, symbolizing peace and purity.
The Program commenced with a warm welcome to the chief guest by the students performing Parvatasana showcasing flexibility and discipline.
Pushparchane ceremony was accompanied by a soulful rendition of Yogena Chittasaya to pay respects to Maharshi Patanjali by the heads of the institution.
Students delivered speech about the origin, importance and benefits of Yoga. Middle school students presented a group song devoted to the theme. A dance performance by high school students depicted Lord Shiva as Adiyogi, who is not just a deity but a cosmic force that keeps all existence in rhythm. To walk the path of Shiva is to strive for equilibrium of mind, body, and soul.
Trained and experienced yoga instructors conducted a mass yoga session where students and teachers actively participated in performing various asanas such as Surya Namaskar, Tadasana, Shashankasana, The rhythmic flow of breath and movement created a meditative atmosphere. Anulom Vilom Pranayama and Omkar mass chanting were conducted which created a tranquil atmosphere.
Some of the advanced Yogasanas like Veerabhadrasana, Bhujangasana, Kapotasana, Pincha Mayurasana, Vamadevasana, Gomukhasana, were performed by the trained students showcasing perfect alignment of a balanced body and mind. Students made a speactacular formation of OM and kept the audience enthralled with graceful yoga postures.
The Principal of VVS Marathahalli Smt. Padma Sagar, addressed the gathering with an insightful speech, reminding us that yoga is India’s gift to the world — a tradition that nurtures peace, clarity, and resilience. She mentioned about Ashtanga Yoga, referring to the eight-fold path that leads to spiritual enlightenment and self-discipline.
Students participated in the International Yoga Day quiz organized by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India in collaboration with the MyGov portal.
The celebration of Yoga Day was a memorable and enriching experience for all. The session ended with a prayer for universal well-being.
This grand event reinforced the role of Yoga as part of holistic education and its ability to empower individuals to live healthier, more mindful, and purpose-driven lives, making it an invaluable practice for the overall development of every student.
