Vagdevi Vilas School, Marathahalli, celebrated International Yoga Day on 22 June 2026 with great enthusiasm and spirit in the school assembly ground. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of yoga in maintaining physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

The celebrations began with a grand, rhythmic welcome to the dignitaries by the school band followed by the Asana presentation by the students of Grade 5. An invocation song by the students of Grades 5 and 6 created a peaceful and positive atmosphere. Thiru Kannan of Grade 11 delivered the welcome address, and the programme continued with Pushpa Archane and a graceful group dance by the students of Grade 11.

A thought-provoking speech on the significance of Yoga Day was delivered by Skanda of Grade 9. Students of Grades 7 and 8 then performed a mass yoga session that included meditation, Omkar chanting, Patanjali prayer, warm-up exercises, Surya Namaskar, various asanas, and pranayama. The synchronized performance reflected the students’ discipline, dedication, and understanding of yoga practices.

The gathering was further inspired by the address of the Principal, Mrs. Dimple Jana, who highlighted the role of yoga in leading a healthy and balanced life. A special yoga logo formation by the students of Grade 6 and a melodious group song by the students of Grades 7 and 8 added colour to the event. The programme also featured an impressive advanced yoga demonstration by students of Grades 5 to 8.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Sharanya of Grade 11 and the chanting of the Shanti Mantra. The event successfully conveyed the message of harmony, health, and holistic development through yoga.
